Instrument panel noise

I just purchased a 2005 sport trac, I'm really happy with the way it drives. One thing I've noticed is a "hiss" or Vacuum sound coming from behind the instrument panel. It gets louder

as the RPM's increase. This is one of those things that most people wouldn't even notice unless your in the car all the time. Any one else notice this.

You will see several of the 2004 owners complain of this as well. To date, no one has found the common issue. A few members have found one of the Heat/AC vacuum controls lines has come off creating the hiss.



Ford can not find the answer either.



So if you do find it and it is the same common issue that others are having you will be a hero...

i get that one in a blue moon at about 80km/h in cruise control. it comes and goes... I just turn up my stereo.... hahaha

My '04 has the same thing. The dealer said it's a pressure release from one of of the vacuum pumps that controls the heating/ac unit and is normal.

It may be normal but it's still annoying. What component is making the noise? Where is it located?

Don't worry you will get used to it in a few months.
