Intake Manifold Gasket

My '04 XLT Sport Trac, 90K mi., is starting to run badly, engine missing, hesitating. I changed out the plugs (that was fun) and will likely do the same for the plug wires. Mechanic said the intake manifold gasket is made of plastic and cracks around 90K after all the expanding / contracting, and is really tough to get to. Anyone have this experience?

If you do a search. The 4.0L motors that had this problem were. The '01 job1. They had a different intake.

I dont think anyone here has has a cracked intake or bad gaskets on the job2 motor.

Have you checked all vacuum connections. Especialy the pcv elbow.
