have an 02 with the pioneer 6 cd changer w/ subwoofer, cd player does not work (radio works fine). Am wanting to hook up an ipod to this radio and saw on the replacement radios website they have an "ipod interface" (item # fdip-01), has anyone used this interface and does it work?

If you didn't use this particular interface, what did you use??

Also, if anyone has their owners manual for this type radio they would like to get rid of, would be interested in the manual as well.

Jim,

I just typed "ipod" in the search and found this

Is yours the 6-disc indash unit? If so, it won't work. Those types of interfaces only work if you have a separate CD changer and CD changer controls on the in-dash radio.

I have been using the DLO Transpod 2 All-in-One FM Transmitter, and it seems to work pretty well.

Not quite, actually.

Some of the iPod units work with the 6CD units. Earlier 6CD units actually had external CD changer ports (hit the CD button on yours, and see if it changes to CDDB or CD2--if it does, you've got the ability). The cut off involves radio models in 2003. 2004+ used the CANBUS protocol, which is a killer. But, there are auxiliary inputs that fool the radio into thinking it's a Satellite Radio.

To find one for your 02, check here: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/ipodford.html.

Pay close attention to the radios they say do and do not work. Also note the serial number ranges--if you're in the range, you're good to go.

If you need assistance with the install (it's easy), contact me. I have this in my ST so I can run my Garmin's MP3 and voice navigation through the stock system: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piefrd03auxs.html.

Good luck!

The bottom line is that these interfaces will only work if your OEM unit has the capability to control an auxiliary unit such as a CD changer or Satellite radio and has integrated controls for such a unit, right?

I've got the '04 Adrenalin system, and I don't think any of this interfaces would work on that unit.

I think your money would be better spent on a new head unit, one that has an input for mp3 players and one that also plays mp3's recorded on cd's.

Right--the Adrenalin head unit is a dead end with these.

There, Tom's right. A new head unit is the only choice, or an FM modulator with lackluster sound.
