I bought a Roomba. Did I just blow $145? Oh well, if I did it'll be fun to shoot at!

Yeah, there are different models. My sister has one and says it does a good job. Comments on Woot are pretty good too. We'll see. :D

Fred, people seem to like them....was thinking of getting one, but with three kids there is always so much stuff on the floor what's the point?

lasik1, you could put a Teddy Bear on the vac and let your tot chase it! :D

I've had one for about three months now and totally love the thing.

They have a cliff sensor built in so they won't fall down the stairs and they are small enough to get into the places normally not vacuumed (Like under the couch or bed). Only problem I've ever had with mine is that it doesn't seem to like heat vents. Oh, and I also had to "roomba proof" my house so that there were no electrical cords or what not for it to suck up.

Which model did you get for $145?

There is a new one out now for cleaning lenolium and wood floors.I Can't remember the name but it will sweep and then spray the floor to clean it I think._Ron

If you are tempted to buy one of those robot carpet vacuums as a Christmas present for your wife....Think again. Take it from a guy who has been married for 40 years, "Your wife (nor my wife) wants cleaning equipment for Christmas". If she specifically asks for one, or if you are getting it for yourself and you do the cleaning, then by all means get one.

Just a few words of wisdom from someone who went down that road many years ago.

...Rich

My buddy has had one for a couple years now and I took it for a test drive last month. He swears by it and I must say I was impressed. I was looking at the "scheduler" model that can be programmed to come out whenever you want. They are pretty fun to watch for a bit, especially when they automatically go back to thier charging base.

Rich, I agree, as cool as they are, you are asking for trouble getting it for your wife!

I have had mine for about two months and just bought another. My living room has never been so free of dust bunnies. I let it run twice a day - as I leave for work and just before going to bed.

I love the way it cleans then goes back to it's home base.

Statik13, it's an iRobot Roomba Sage with Convenience Pack (4110).

Blackhat, the one that sweeps and sprays is a Scooba.

RichardL, I've been married almost 21 years. I've already learned all of those painful lessons.:lol:

Stu,

My wife HAD to have one.....

Now i think it is a great thing!

we have the Discovery model, if we were going to purchase another it would be a scheduler model. If you watch the Kohl's add you can get them discounted30-50% off

They now also have a version for picking up bolts and debries in the garage or your shop....no we need one to pick up after the dogs in the back yard :)

TracNJack, if you look at the accessories on the iRobot website, you can buy a remote control that will allow you to set up schedules with your existing Discovery model. I think the price was $50 or somewhere around there.

Fred, you'll be happy with it. Nothing like sitting back and having a beer while watching the vacuum do all the chores for you.

:D:D

Stu said to keep us posted so here it is. The robot vacuum SUCKS and does a great job of it. It 'fuzzes' the carpet so much with the brushes that it looks like new. Seems to suck up the deep down dirt, too.

BTW, Woot! has another iRobot vacuum on today. $149.99
