I recieved an email that Peoria is parking these in neighbor hoods. When needed. I havent snopes it. Thought we may have some members that are residents..

I would consider it a nuisance to see that in my neighborhood.

Hey Eddie,

I just saw a local news report a couple days ago, and the Waco police department has a similar vehicle. The Waco vehicle is black and white like a police vehicle (looks like an armored car) with "Video Surveillance" on the side? It was the first I ever heard of such a vehicle?

I always thought that video surveillance was supposed to be an undercover "Stealthy" operation ?? Not sure why they would want to park such an obvious vehicle in the area they are staking out?

Hugh,

Especialy if they parked in front of your house....

That would be illegal trespass on my property without a warrant. My house is waaaaaaay off the road. They're welcome to sit at the end of my driveway and stare at pine trees and a mailbox.

I don't think it's so much to make an arrest for a crime; it's to pressure the residents into submission for "nuisance" problems (aka. petty code violations, not crime).

I find it hard to believe the residents would prefer that truck on their street to their neighbors having a noisy cookout.

Hugh,

The TV news article said that 3 dogs (Pit Bulls) had been shot and dumped along that deserted stretch of road. That is not a minor nuisance or misdemeanor...just ask Michael Vick.

They showed the police "Video Surveillance Van" parked at the dump site in hopes of catching the people who shot the dogs??? Duh?

Not only was it reported and shown on the TV news, but then to see that big police van parked there would certainly make the criminals just go somewhere else to dump the dogs.

In this case the police sound dumber than the criminals...:smack:

I skimmed. Missed that part. I assumed it was for it's logical purpose. Wow, that is stupid. I'm sure the department would have been better served with training, raises or more employees.

GA State Patrol has been purchasing surplus Humvees. Sounds reasonable.

Hugh,

I am also guilty of skimming over posts and missing key points.

In this instance, it was not your skimming...I failed to mentioned that this case was not a simple "Nuisance or misdemeanor" case of code violations in my original post. :haveabeer:
