It's an epidemic

I agree......just carry one of these and we can fight back against those who bug us with their cell phones

Having separate cars for young drivers does not solve anything. In fact, it actually ENCOURAGES illegal cellphone usage by these restricted drivers, as not everyone knows how to get to the destination, so someone undoubtedly gets lost, and has to call the people who know for directions.

Living in a small town on the end of a large peninsula (most traveled dead end road in the world), this is a very common problem....to quote Spike TV's Bullrun "I now know why people never leave small towns--no one knows how to get the f*ck out" (when trying to ask for directions).

There are also the people who have to race each other down the roads (these guys generally don't know how to get anywhere either) and partake in other insipid activities, activities which endanger the public--activities which would be greatly reduced in occurrance if the law was repealed.

Most of the driving stupidity is done by "adults" in rush hour traffic. You don't see young drivers shaving on the freeway. I am not saying that young drivers can drive perfectly--far from it--but the majority of driving stupidity is performed by people who are not minors, so why are minors the only ones getting punished, and severely at that?

Following the law is incredibly costly--and often incites breaking the law. The young driver law is an asinine effort put forth by ignorant lawmakers. I'm surprised environmentalists don't protest it vehemently.

I loathe cell phones--some guy, in a rental 2007 Dodge Calibur rear ended my 92 LeSabre stopped at a light. He drove my ride into the back of another buick (ironically), a Revedenzous, so the difference in bumper height smashed in my front, and the 55+ mph impact into the back of my ride, when I was stopped, took out the back.

The guy extricated himself after getting to the side of the road--I insist he would have driven off, had his POS dodge not been obliterated on impact. He dragged himself out, all torn up from the plethora of airbags (which he referred to as balloony-things), opened his passenger door, picked up his Bluetooth headset, and continued his Expletiving conversation, eventually calling his "wife" to pick him up. Luckily 2 police cars magically happened to be there, and were at the scene moments after we got our cars off the road, or some 55 year old, bluetooth-ranting, kansas imbecile would have gotten a beating.

My friend was hit by a fat redneck woman in a chevy suburban which was more than twice as tall as she was, when we were younger and used to bike around, because she was on her cell, and her logic was that she could be on the cell and pull out without looking, because "suvs don't get into accidents". (don't ask me to explain that--she was missing a lot between the ears.)

I have no love of cell phones while driving, and I have all the reason to hate them with a passion, but I would not surrender them to the Law. Not only is that anti-American, but the laws won't stop people, as already evidenced.

The law in Pennsylvania has passed as far as major shipping companies are concerned, as they have posted bulletins reminding their employees about them. If conglomerates treat legislature as law, than it might as well be, if it truly is not already.
