I broke my damn foot! Wednesday I broke my foot at Taekwondo. It's in a temporary cast now, I go to an orthopedist Monday. I hope I get a walking cast...crutches are a pain. I want to be back to work and back to Taekwondo by Tuesday.

I'm sure you'll have a speedy recovery, but, back to TKD on Tuesday in my opinion .....NO WAY....

Well I guess it depends on what you want to do when you are there, Also if you take enough pain killers you could probably break some boards.

It loos swollen anc bruised. have you had it x-rayed? If you did what is the results? If broken, depending on the kind of break? you may continue to be casted but surgery is also another otion to fix the break. Now if you're thinking going to active/impact sports by tuesday I think you have to re-consider.

Vigilantes, I had it x-rayed and my fourth metatarsal is broken. I shouldn't need surgery and hopefully my orthapedist will fit me with a removeable walking cast (sort of a plastic/velcro ski boot looking thing) when I go back to Taekwondo I'm not going to be fighting, but hopefully I'll be able to work on my required poomse or form (kata in karate) so my progress toward my next belt wont be slowed too much.

Bart,

I feel your pain. I fell down a flight of steps yesterday. They were wet and I landed on my tail bone. It was like a water slide, but very painful. I was supposed to drive to Germany today, but just sitting in the car hurts. This afternoon the pain subsided, so maybe I can make the 14 hour trip on Tuesday and/or Wednesday.

Get well soon.

Nelson, I jumped out of a helo that was higher than I had thought for a rescue. I broke my tail bone upon impacting the water. I was virtually paralized.

Got myself straight amd saved the guy but I was out of operation for nearly two months and it hirt for the better part of a year.

I feel for ya Bart. I broke my ankle about 3 years ago and it was interesting to watch the color show you get from light purple to dark purple and black. I currently have a broken big toe, did it two weeks ago now, it too has been quite colorful, but now just a little purple left on the top. Dont rush back into things, I learned that the hard way, better to take it easy and let it heal right or it will bother you more in the long run.

I feel you pain too! I've fractured both my left and my right foot. The same bone at both feet (5th metatarsal). Displaced the bone almost 1/2 an inch in my left foot.

Last year I did it right at the start of summer. I got a walking cast both times. I could drive, ride a bike and go the the beach, not much else. Chasing my 2 year old around was a real challenge.

It's pain in the butt, and it takes a long time to heal. Listen to Firedog, take it slow. My left foot still hurts everyday!

Good luck, Get well soon.

I feel your pain. In the 13 years I taught Choi Kwang Do Martial Arts, I broke my right big toe and had my nose broken. Now, my uncle Arthur Itis visits me on certain days but I do breathe much better these days!

Bart, I'm a physical therapist by profession that's why I inquired for the results. If a linear and stable fracture occurred on your 4th metatarsal (depending on proximal, distal or midshaft). Appropriate Orthotic devices can be put in place like a walking boot or cast in order to stabilize the foot and protect the fracture. If stable without risk of overriding, you can certainly put full weight bearing on your foot, and can probably be able to participate with non-stressful/contact activities. Hope that your Orthopedist would find things favorable.

Bart,

You sound like me... LOL! I went out to Prairie City today to thank a few people for their help last Sunday taking my stuff back to my house when I ended up in the hospital after flipping in my racing kart, and to say "Hello" to some of my friends that I race against. (And get a bit of a racing 'fix'.) Everyone was asking how I was feeling, and how the kart looked... I was like, "I feel great! And the kart's done already! I had Bill put it back together for me Thursday. If I had my new helmet already, I'd be out there racing today!!!" (Even though there's NO WAY in Hades that I can race for a couple of months...) The track operator looked at me and said, "Can you grip the wheel with BOTH hands?" to which I had to reply "um... no". That was the end of story as far as he was concerned... NO RACING FOR ME. lol

Interesting side note: Right after arriving, the class I run in, TaG National Cup, ran their first heat. Second race we got to watch. Second lap into the race, guy in a red Birel kart touchs wheels with another kart and flips! Deja Vu!!! He was O.K., or at least he was refusing to go to the hospital last I heard. My poor friend who came home from Europe to take care of me after the accident saw that and started freaking out a bit... She was like, "That's it! I'm going to your house and smashing that kart before you kill yourself!" She calmed down when she saw that the guy wasn't hurt near as bad as I.

Trust me, by tomorrow you won't feel like going to Taekwondo as badly as you do now.

I tell people I'm ready to go race, but laying in bed at night in pain, I know I'm not going to be doing much for the next couple months... Especially get back in that kart again until I don't hurt at all.

Hope you heal quick, Bart. I got my right foot run over by a fork truck in 1998. I had to wear the removeable cast for 11 weeks. :(

volfireman07, yup I kicked his elbow. (that wasn't the plan of course, he just swung his arm down as I kicked) and to all the well wishers...I just got back from the orthopedist and I'm back to work tomorrow and Taekwondo will be fine as long as I don't fight...poomse (form or kata) only for 4 weeks.:(

Man I hate the elbow points. I had A guy fighting MMA at the first of the month and he kicked an elbow too (for the first time). Luckily it was late in the 3rd round. Foot swelled up something aweful.

Believe it or not, you will build a tolerance to it eventually. It will still hurt, but not as bad. As long as you don't break a metatarsal that is.

I feel for you. Hope you are back to 100% soon.
