Sorry for the OT post. Last weekend I hosed the engine of my wife's Liberty off and I probably got a little water leakage past the coil pack onto one of the sparkplugs. It missed a bit until I got the engine hot, and after it cooled off, the missing went away. Anyway, it set the check engine light on. After a week of driving it, the light is still on, even though it runs fine. Am I gonna have to take the damn thing in to get the codes cleared, or will it ever turn off the check engine light by itself.

Thanks

Gavin. The new OBD II computers are designed to detect as little as ONE mis-

fire in THIRTY THOUSAND engine revolutions, or cycles! If you did get some

water in the coil pack, or into one of the plug wires, this could very well have

caused the misfire, and your c/e light to come on. If all is running fine, now,

try disconnecting your battery for 15 to 20 minutes to reset your computer.

If the water was the problem, you should not experience another c/e light.

Again, if all ran fine before the water, and the water is now evaporated, and

that is the only thing that you did differently, I believe this should cure the

c/e light problem.

I believe if you turn the ignition on and of 3 times leaving it on the third time, the CEL Will blink the code for you..... (if newer jeeps still do this)

No diesel here.

THe three on/off cycles don't work like they did in the older chryslers. (I used this all the time keeping my old Daytona running.)

Gavin,

Someone here got a Liberty Diesel. I could not remember if it were you or not.

I think you are right.

I remember something about him sticking around just to give me a hard time.
