As I mentioned back in late September, I got laid off from my job about two months ago. (The company was cutting costs in a desperate attempt to stay afloat; the effort failed and they went belly-up about three weeks later.)

Well, I finally landed a new position. Sr. Packaging Engineer with a pharmaceutical manufacturer in the western Twin Cities 'burbs. It's going to be a bit of a transition--never been in the pharmaceutical industry before, although they're FDA-regulated, and I have experience with that from working with medical device manufacturing previously. But it looks quite promising. It's a contract position for the first 6 months; they expect that I'll be brought on as a full-time regular employee immediately after that. I start next Tuesday!

Congrats Bill! Good luck in your new endeavor. Interesting transition from your previous field. Sure you will prosper, as you sound very motivated.

The "medical" industry will ALWAYS survive, despite economic conditions. People need health care and medication. Best Wishes!!! :)

Congratulations Bill. I'm sure with your previous experience, that this will be an easy transition for you. I mean they wouldn't have hired you if they felt you weren't qualified. So keep your head down, eyes and ears open and think outside the "box" (pun intended). Good luck, Bob :D:D

Congrats Bill V. Hey send me some Viagra if you get your hands on some. (Not for ME of course, for my friend).
