Ok, I know I have asked before, and got no real leads. I WANT A BLACK GRILL..... I have an 09 ST 4X4, in black pearl, black running boards, black roof rack, and black OEM cover. The only Chrome is the grill..... would LOVE to make that black...

Seems simple emough to remove both pieces (grill and section on hood), but I cant find one online and my dealer just gives me a deer in the headlight look.

I figure if they are putting them on the Explorer Sport, they "must" fit our ST???

Anyone have one or any ideas????

What you want is the Ironman grill from an Explorer. The STA grill will not work. Dingo did this but he painted it blue to match his truck and someone else recently changed theirs also.

I was told the STA grill will not fit a ST, also they are color coded and not the same black as the running board or roof rack.

I am NOT sure what an IRONMAN grill for Explorer is, but I will google it and see what I find out.

Again, I have to believe the Explorer is the same grill as the standard ST.

Will update if I can find it, but meanwhile if someone else knows, would love to know!

SLB8SNK, the Ironman grill is what you see above, except Redfish painted it. Just go to the dealer or contact Torrie at Fast Parts Network and tell him what you want.

LES, does this grill come standard in Black or is it naked and always needs to be painted or color matched? I was hoping it would come in the standard none paited, none glossy flat black all the other design cues come in? Any idea? I think I already tried Torrie the last go around, and asked about a black grill and he stated it was not available, unless I spoke to another vendor on this site. I will do more howework.

Thanks.

Hey, I think I agree! The IRONMAN seems to be the right grill. I am not sure if the black is the same as the otgher FORD stuff in black plastic, but if so.. this may be a dead ringer for what I was looking for... See the attached photo if I can make it work. I have seen the chrome grills for under $300.

Does anyone know the part number and cost? I will also try Torrie...

Thanks guys.

Ok, so I am convinced the IRONMAN is the correct grill. However the prices vary much more than expected. I have seen this grill for between $88.00, $158.00, and $292.00 online in different parts stores. I checked with Torrie and he wants $363.00?

I am not sure why the heavey swing in prices, so I will try and get an actual part number and do more research... but wow... $88 to $363?

Possible the lesser $$$ are produced overseas. Some of thase parts dont quite lign up. Been there done that.

I thought the same but all but the cheapest at $88 are from other Ford Dealers online... just confused... still researching so at least we can answer once and for all.

Well guys, it appears there are TWO parts you need to make this happen. One is the main grill, the second is part of the hood, which makes up the complete grill. Each has a part number and individual cost. Parts/costs from Torrie will run you close to $500 shipped. See below. More than I expected, but who knows... thought I would share just the same... and I may still do it...

Dingo, what do you mean? What I posted is both replacement parts to remove the chrome and make them both the IRONMAN flat black that would match the other Ford OEM stuff on the truck for the most part. Both must be replaced as part of the complete grill swap. Two off, two on. Reason I posted as such is that there are actually two parts you need.

Hope that makes sense.

I know. I bought them. I painted them. I installed them.

The hood piece is shiny black. The grille piece is flat black.

That makes no sense? Somehting had to be wrong, maybe the wrong part numbers? Did your numbers match what I posted? Being that I am NOT painting mine, and want them to match the OEM black trim, this would be a waste of time. I have to belive the IRONMAN set has to be the same color, and in the same black as the OEM black trim???? HELP!!!
