largest tires on a stock 03 XLT

I have an 03 XLT and I'm looking to buy some black rims and new tires. I dont have a lift and all suspension is stock. I'm looking for some suggestions as to what rim size would be good (I want to go larger that stock 16) and also what is the largest tire I can run on it without having to worry about any cutting or rubbing. Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated!

I just recently got a sport trac so i dont have alot of advice on trac's.. Past experience on vehicles was one size bigger then the stock tire size... You still keep the stock 16's but go up in tread size.. hope it helps.

Probably no larger than 32 but they may rub a little
