A while back there was a post where a member (forgot the name ;) ) put some lights behind the grille for that extra illumination that every ST needs. I've been considering doing that, as I don't want to clutter up the pushbar with lights, but I don't know how effective it will be. So, how much extra light does it throw on the road. Was it worth it?

Yep, that's the post. Thanks.

Tho the post doesn't say how effective they were :( Oh wells, I'll just have to experiment :D

there is a good amount of space behind the grille. the amount of light being put out depends on the quality of light you buy. example....for the fire department i have a set of whelen Lin4 LED lights. extremely small, maybe inch deep by 4 inches long, 2 inch high. throws an incredible amount of light from behind the grill because they are very high quality lights. now i used to have a set of cheap-o's in there, not soo bright. if you want good light, buy a decent set of lights. you get what you pay for. ;) good luck.

I actually mounted an Opticom head behind the grill of my ST. Opticom: That strobe light that changes traffic lights to green... yes, I was authorized to have it.

bout $40 for both and they put off a great amount of light

but i removed them all awhile back

After thinking whether it was worth it for me to either buy factory fogs or EBAY fogs that fit the holes I decided I was not gonna go that route due to the cost. I went to Harbor Freight and got a decent pair of fogs that are actually brighter than my 9007 Phillips extreme vision headlights. Mounting them was pretty easy and a fun little project. I like the behind the grille look, and like how the fogs remain hidden. Fog lights cost 10 bucks with a 20 percent off online coupon at HF.
