At least you acknowledge my winning.

You did not win anything....Obama won the election without any of your help...Romney won your home state of Indiana, and got all their Electoral Votes....so your vote was worthless and did not even count.....:bwahaha:

Like I said, we Americans are the losers, and I think that will soon be in evidence when Obama reaches the "Fiscal Cliff" and he is unwilling to compromise. Republicans have already said thei are willing to compromise on some tax increases for the wealth...but there are conditions that will require Obama to made some concessions...That's where he will probably balk and things will go down hill from there.

You gotta love how, when two sides have a disagreement about something, and are unable to find an acceptable middle ground, it's always the "other guy" who is the only one deemed unwilling to compromise...

Bill V, funny your last comment (serious, not being sarcastic).

We can hope there will be progress Obama's 2nd term. There is really nothing to gain and everything to be lost in Republican Congress obstructing Obama. During the first term, yes, they were fighting his re-election.

We need politicians that work as hard for US as they do for election/re-election.

TJR

Mark, I don't share your optimism. Even if the Republicans have no reason to target Obama as an individual any more since he can no longer be re-elected, both the GOP and the Dems will still be targeting each other as a party, looking both to 2014 and 2016.

Bill V,

I also stated that the Leadership of the Republican Congress has already said that they are willing to compromise and allow some tax increases by eliminating or restricting some deductions for the wealthy tax payers but that concession require Obama to make some concessions as well.

In the past, Congress was willing to compromise, Obama excepted the compromise and then did not do what he said he would do.

Last year when the were squabling over the budget and that if they did not reach an agreement the government would start to shut down. Obama and Congress made a deal that Congress would extend the budget if Obama would take a serious look at approving the Keystone Pipeline.

Obama agreed and the budget was extended and Obama had until February 21st to review his decision on the Keystone Pipeline. A month before the deadline, Obama announced that he was not going to reevaluate the Pipeline because he did not want to be held to an arbitrary deadline? The deadline he agreed to as part of the compromise by Congress to extend the budget. Obama said he would not make a decision until after the election.

If that's what Obama considers a compromise, I doubt that Congress will take Obama on his word again...and that's where the fighting will begin.

...Rich

Yeah, I don't believe there will be compromise in the end...compromise is not Barry's style. I say take the boat in and get it over with...........

07 ST, I agree that compromise is not Obama's style, or perhaps not even in his vocabulary.

I thing he purposely held off approving the Keystone Pipeline project to use it as an "Ace in the Hole" while negotiating with Congress regarding the "Fiscal Cliff" of the Bush tax cuts vs Spending cuts. Remember, that was how he got Congress to approve the extension last year.

Congress approved the extension on the condition that Obama would re-evaluate the Keystone Pipeline by February 21, 2012 Obama agreed, but at the end of January, he did not keep his promise, and announced that he would not review the Keystone Pipeline because he did not want be held to an "Arbitrary Deadline??".... The same deadline he agreed to as a condition of getting the extention and keeping the government operating.

If I was in Congress, I would insist that Obama sign and approve the Keystone Pipeling, before negotiating on the "Fiscal Cliff" even begins.

The thing is, I really think he wants the economy to crash. He will try to maneuver so he isn't blamed but then he can put in place social and policy programs he desires to acheive his ultmate dream society. They need to be very, veryl careful when negotiating with him....IMO!

Sequestration was passed and approved by the House, the Senate and signed by the President. I say let it go into effect. They all want to "kick the ball" and not be responsible for making the hard choices. They have not passed a budget in just about 4 years. This group, Republicans and Democrats, have no guts to get us out of the mess they all have created. What makes anyone things will change.

The President asked for these provisions and wants them. It taxes all and give him the cuts he wants. It generates the funds he needs for a new stimulus plan, cuts the military and entitlements while focusing the blame on the Republicans. This is why he will push for what he wants without compromise hoping the Republicans stand pat. Republicans will be blamed and they will then loose the midterms. The only way out for the Republicans is to give him everything he wants for the next four years. Then failure or success will be his. If his plan works GREAT. If not the debit will be 24 trillion, we will be Greece with no one to bail us out and no one will want to be President.

Good luck to you all, I'm good either way.

Read Atlas Shrugged. This is exactly what happens in that story. Funny how prophetic Ayn Rand was in writing that novel over 50 years ago.

I started it but only got into it 50 or so pages....a weird read for me. Maybe I'll finish it and see how this will all turn out...LOL!

Frank,

You really think a re elected Democrat PRESIDENT wants the economy to crash????????????????????????????????

I don't think it will come to that, but stranger things have happened in politics and Obama has shown to be very stubborn.... As a Democrat he certainly reflects the stubborn ******* symbol of the Democratic party. What does he have to lose...He can always blame it on the Republican Congress and lots of people will believe him.

I think we are in for a game of chicken to see who blinks first Obama or Congress. Congress already said they are open to some tax hikes for the wealth, but Obama has already stated that there are some conditions he will not compromise on...without being specific?

I guess we will just have to wait and see....:argue:

How is it that there are people that think, I say actually believe with certainty, that our elected officials are dliberately, willfully working to hurt our economy and therefore this country and its people AND these people are are NOT out leading a revolt instead of lurking here? How is that?

I absolutely mean that! If I thought our elected officials were doing that, I would probably have to be locked up due to my actions.

But, I don't think that they are.

TJR

TJR,

I don't think Obama or any elected official is deliberately trying to crash our economy. But I do believe that people who are so convinced that their way is the only way, and not open to reason or compromise can destroy almost anything.

Hitler did not want to destroy Germany, but in the end, that's what he did and he got the majority of the country to go along with his ideas??

We have checks and balances to insure that no one man can do that much damage, but even then, considerable damage can be done before the checks and balances kick in to salvage what's left.

If the Democrats can blame George W. Bush for the state of the economy, the collapse of our Banking system, the stock market, and the Mortgage/Real Estate market then it would stand to reason that Obama and the Democrats can do something different but equally as devastating with excessive spending, higher taxes, bigger deficits, unemployment, and a weaker military.

The USA is like a big ocean liner that requires a lot of space and time to change directions, not a speed boat that can change directions with a flick of the steering wheel. Obama cannot make that many drastic changes over night or even during his 2 terms...The USA just will not change directions that fast. Obama is like the captain of the ship....he gives the direction but it's the crew that actually handles the controls to make the ship turn. He also has to listen and trust the advise from the crew when they say there are icebergs, or shallow water ahead.

I don't thank that they are actually working to hurt the economy, but, they are working to change the country to there vision. This will hurt the economy and the country. I believe this.

I have read that as many as 900 regulations are in the process. The administration does not need legislative approval for these regulations. As an example, coal fired generators are going to be gone, result a possible 33% increase in electric bills.

For the "How is that" part of your question . To use Rich's example; when you are in a 50ft sailboat and a big ocean liner is heading toward you, you have two choices. Hail the big ocean liner and explain the "international rules of the road" to them and tell them you have the right of way (revolt), or get out of the way. I'm taking my little boat and getting out of the way. My little boat can take the big wave, given the condition of my boat and my age.
