Hey stoney - I had remembered this post because I used it and it worked great for me on XP if that matters. But you never know how another computer will react.

Yeah, XP here to. It was really wierd. I had programs that wouldn't open, sometimes the internet wouldn't connect, icons in the toolbar would disappear, and a bunch of other stuff. Restored and everything was fine. I figured that since my IE7 never was that slow, I'll leave it alone.;)

stonemiser, a question for you.

What operating system did you have issues with?

I did it to my XP and it worked perfectly. I have Vista on my new computer and wanted to do the same.

Please let me know.

Thanks...

Now that I re-read the post. I only did the two options in the "Internet Options" tab, I did not do the remove thing.

So, I did the same for my new Vista machine. We will see.....

Coastie, It was XP and all was fine till I did the "remove" thing. I didn't notice any difference in the speed of IE7 though, so I didn't bother with the other tweeks once I did the restore.;)

Ahhh, ok...

The two tweaks do a good job at speeding up IE 7.

As I said, I did not do the remove thing. Guess that is the same way I will do it again...

Stonemiser, sorry about the problems caused by that last step. I have done it on about 20 computers--including 2 of my own without problems but you know how computers are. I'm glad you were able to get it working again though.

George
