My 11 year old has become a very good fastpitch pitcher. All of the people in the know are telling us to get her a Pitching Glove.

Basically, they are lighter weight and have other various differences. We borrowed a fellow players and could see a difference. It help to keep her balance better when swinging the ball around for the pitch. We then video taped it with both gloves and you could see a noticable difference in the sway of her body as the weight of the normal glove is about twice the weight.

At any rate... I have done some looking around but am not finding decent details or availability...

Any help would be appreciated, thanks...

While I don't know if they have a pitching glove, they make a wide variety of gloves tailored to fast pitch and young/older girls. My daughter has one of their gloves, it is very top quality.

Honestly the glove is not going to make anyone a better pitcher. It may feel different but it's not going to throw strikes. I umpire fastpitch up through High School and the majority of the pitchers play other positions as well. I believe it needs to be a glove that she can comfortably field a ball. Other than a catchers mitt and maybe a first base mitt, they don't weigh much as it is. JMHO.

I will agree that the glove does not make he pitcher.

In this case, the glove is a bit shorter and hinders the pitcher a bit less than a traditional glove. Even if there is some psychological attachment to it that actually does help her, then I don't mind investing in the glove.

Bottom line is, she's having fun and we are enjoying watcher her...

C, you umpire, but did you ever play? I played baseball for 14 years of my life, and the glove will make a difference (I was a pitcher, catcher, fielder, utility player). My sister played fast pitch for years (as a pitcher) and she had a fielding glove and a pitching glove.

dont know bout bout for girls cause the golve has to ba a lil bigger!!! if they make a A2000 for girls its amazing!!!! will last her through all her years of playing!!!!! unless someone steals it!! lol

I cannot help as far as the knowing about a 'pitching glove' as all my 32 years of baseball are with hardball but if she really liked that glove, find out what brand and make it is and buy the same.

As far as buying check eBay.

My glove knowledge....I have 5, my 7 year old son has 6 (I even bought him a left handed catcher's glove, I buy many on eBay hoping they will already be broken in somewhat as it is tough for the small hands to really break in a glove), and there are various other gloves floating around.

Most recently I found one for him that is a Mizuno World Win V (made in the mid 90's) when I was actually looking for one for me - I had lost mine at one of his practices last Fall. Last Thursday was a great day. His glove came in the mail and I actually found mine in the lost and found at the park. I had given up hope after 2 months last fall of not finding it. It was like a 2 for 1 deal.

With this one back in my stable of gloves, the replacement I bought will probably now take 2-3 years to be broken in. Things could be worse.

Good luck.

p.s. Jennie Finch is hot but I am not sure about her line of softball products.

Jeff C- I've never played fast pitch but I do currently play slow pitch. I played baseball starting at age 4 through high school. I actively umpire baseball, slow and fastpitch softball.

I've seen numerous, excellent pitchers be relieved in fastpitch only to play a different defensive position. I can't recall any changing gloves. I was just stating my opinion. As a father, I would probably buy my child one if I had the means to. Nothing wrong with giving your kids what they want.

As someone who coaches a women's team and plays on numerous men's teams, you can get the best overall deal at softballsales.com. I have used them for numerous purchases and they are a very good company. You might also want to invest in a fielders glove to wear under her mitt. It's kind of like a batting glove but has added padding in the index finger and upper palm for the occasional come-backer she may still get. The pitcher's glove is lighter and such because of less padding and a better weight distribution. Get the additional fielders glove for under the pitchers glove and ou may prevent broken bones and bruising from a line drive. Emai me with any additional questions. I love talking softball.

Thanks to all of your suggestions, I will take them all in when coming to a decision as to what and where to buy.

I appreciate your time, thanks much !!!
