Sorry to have to post this in the ST forums, but it's my favorite resource!

My dad has a 95 Escort with the standard engine. The plastic cap on the windishiled washer fluid reservoir cracked, so he needs a new one. It's just a little black plastic cap with a molded in strap that connects to a collar that goes around the stem of the reservoir. The strap "hinge" failed, causing the cap to get lost.

I contacted Ford Parts Network, and I'm told that this part is $147.14. I laughed, and pointed out that it must be the wrong part, since the description reads "Cooling - Radiator and components - Reservoir Reservoir".

The reply I received is "The part number despite what your pointing out in the description is 100% correct "

MAYBE the whole reservoir might cost this... but I'm be surprised. And certainly the cap doesn't cost this much. And the cap is not integrated, so there's no reason to but the whole reservoir.

Can somebody help me locate a correct part number, part ,or price for this piece?

I've been getting replies from JunkYardDog.com yards, and the price has ranged from $15 to $25. I can't see paying that much for this little plastic cap. But it's better than $147!

I wish you posted this 2 days ago..... I was at a local yard and could have gotten one for free..

If you have no luck, Use a ziplock bag and a rubber band....

I know the "HELP" section in a local parts store has them...

I just got the same response from a buddy, Todd. He threw out a bunch of stuff like that.

The HELP section at our stores don't carry parts that old.

I wonder if the bag/rubber band would be okay in the extreme cold and heat.

St,

Keep the plastic for now and when i go back to the junk yard, I will pick you up a cap... I have a 97 escort...

For that matter, I am sure our yard has these. The freight is worth more than the part I would think.

Let me know, if you need one I'll ship it out to you. Just cover the freight.

Found this part #47104 - does not give a price though. Link below too.

PepBoys online has it for $3.90

Awesome, Grumpy! Thank you! According to that, it looks like Help! does carry one. My parts store was wrong. A friend of mine just located one also, so I should be good now.

Thanks again!
