This Saturday, while I was parked at a local high school for my daughters softball tournament, my ST was stolen. While this ST may not be perfect, I think it is one of the best vehicles I've even owned. I am not looking forward to going through the insurance hassle, and I will be looking to replace the ST as soon as possible. In the meantime every time I pass another ST, there will be a pang of envy.

Any chance it was towed by a local towing company ?????

Todd Z

Could it have been repo'ed (no offense)?

Or towed due because it was illegally parked or had past-due tickets, etc, as others have asked?

TJR

If a car is towed is the towing company required to notify the police or anything? Obviously if you come out and your car is just gone the first thing you will do is call the police. You would think there is some sort of requirement of the towing companies to notify the police before some sort of investigation is started.

Yeah that would certainly cut down on wasted man hours trying to find something stolen, when it is actually sitting in a tow yard some where.

Keep us posted on what you find!

There was a set of keys in the car, my wife put her purse under the rear seat with all of her items. We lost the ST keys along with both sets, original and valet for her Lexus. Now Lexus is telling us it will be $700 to get one key or $2000.00 to re key the car. Becuase they have my wifes purse, they have all of our addresses, so we're affraid they might try to drive the Lexus away. Short term we are using a club when it is out doors. The police know quickly, even before it happens if a car is repossed, though that isn't an issue in my case. The ST has no real identifing marks, except for a Sirius antenna, and a "Sport Trac" decal on the HMCSL. They had tried to use our debit card within 15 minutes of taking the car. The police told me they had five reported car thefts in that neighborhood before mine.

Man that really sucks! I would get all new locks for my house as well since they now have your address and information. Be safe, really safe!

Glad I have my Lojack and Viper early warning....

This is the 2nd or third ST that was stolen on this site where the member had left another set of keys in the truck...

Sucks

Not to be a naysayer, but this is why it isn't a good idea to leave your keys in the vehicle at all.

I hope you manage to salvage everything you can out of this and that it doesn't cause too many problems!

Well, I hope you get it back in mostly one piece. Funny, I just now got back from the police station to give them some more info from when mine got broken into. I had cancelled my stolen gas card but I also had one from my dad's company that I never use, so I'd forgotten that I had it and didn't cancel it right away. Gave the police a printout showing when and were gas was purchased but the security camera videos are probably taped over by now. My card took a PIN number but my dad is an old guy and hates that stuff so his didn't have one.

Todd Z - I have noticed the same thing on the F150 site, all the newer F150's that were stolen had one thing in common, people had stashed a set of keys somewhere on/in the truck.

Interesting. One of the nicest features of our Ford ST and Merc Mountainer is that we can lock the keys in them in the summertime and not have bulky keys to worry about when in swimwear, shorts, and such.

This is making me think twice about that practice.

Wow....I always lock my keys in when I go to work, and sometimes when I am out....I don't believe I will be doing that anymore...Thanks, as usual, evryone!!!!
