Loud Bang

I was backing out my '07 V8 ST 4X4 out of the garage this evening. I had to get through a fair amount of snow so I had it in 4X4 High. When the ST was all the way out of the garage and I turned the wheel to the right, it must have hit some icy spot(s) cause it lost traction. But at the same time it made a loud bang from the area of the left front wheel. I then pulled it back into the garage, and back it out again, this time successfully, and with no strange noise(s). Then down the driveway in 4X4 High, and all seemed OK.



Any ideas about the cause of the "loud bang?"

frozen hub, stuck T-case motor.... Some times a 4wd bang is "normal" according to the owners manual...

Yeah I think it is "normal" with the 4wd engaged as well.
