Have a wonderful day everyone!

Now, I had to reload my pc yesterday and all of a sudden, my dvd tray keeps popping out at boot up and won't go back in. I have checked for viruses, spy/adware, run a registry checker.. what's up doc? Any clues? Maybe a bad drive? Worked fine 2-3 days ago.....

You reloaded, but do you have the driver installed for it? Maybe look for an updated driver online?

Try going into device manager and remove that drive...then reboot and let it reload the drivers...if it still does it...try what jeff c, sujested....

Typically, the drivers for disc drives are built into windows. Windows automatically finds and installs the IDE device drivers upon setting up.

Try going into the control panel/hardware/drives and look and see what Windows says about the device, or if the device is even present. If it says the drive is OK, remove the device and let windows redetect by rebooting. If it finds a problem with the drive try doing the same. IF the device is not even there, check cables. Did you mess with any cables or Master/slave settings?

If the drive is popping out during the POST screen, it may be a BIOS issue and you may need to go into the BIOS and check the BIOS firmware setting for the drives.

I have never seen Windows eject a drive upon booting, but I have seen a BIOS having fits eject drives. If the drive is ejecting while Windows is actually loading, there may be something very malicious on your drive, that may ever require a format and a complete reload to get rid of. When you re-installed Windows, did you format or just reload over an old installation? This makes a huge difference..

Best of luck, Merry Christmas

Well, it turns out that it may be the drive itself. It ejects when power is sent to it. Swapped it out with another drive and everything is good to go. The drive has been giving me trouble for a few weeks, so I guess it was time to crap out. I have 1 day left on the warranty and guess who is "closed" tomorrow?????:( I'll call them Tues AM and pleed my case.... Thanks for the help..

BTW, I used a pqi image to reload my drive.
