Bottom line, the service is putting together a formal set of ribbons for me. I have 31 ribbons in all, several of which have multiple awards. One has 9 awards in all, which relates to, 1 ribbon and 8 additional awards.

That means, it will be the ribbon, a Silver star, (representing 5) and 3 bronze stars which totals 9 awards on the same ribbon.

I say that it goes Silver star goes closet to your center bone and the Bronze stars go to the left of the Silver, (if you were wearing it). If your facing it, the Bronze stars go to the right of the Silver star.

Soooo, anyone know for sure...

Come on Nelson,,,, I know your out there... LOL

I don't have multiple stars, but I have multiple oak leafs. I think the rule is the same. The red, white and blue ribbon is the Outstanding Unit Award. It has eleven oak leafs (two silver and one bronse), plus the Valor device for my Special Ops unit at Hurlburt Field.

As you look at them, like looking at Nelson's pic above, silver to the left. As you are wearing them, silver to the right - just like you said.

grump

The highest award goes on the wearers right. You and Grumpy are correct. You Coast Guard guys get a lot of ribbons!

I agree with SFCEd, Goast Guard gives out a lot of medals !!

I have 20 years active duty in the Army with service in Vietnam and I only have about half the ribbons you guys do.

Hmmmm..but I do get a retirement check that has paid for my home, real estate taxes, utilities and insurance for the past 23.5 years, so I guess that's a fair trade.

The way I was told from the G1 at Fort Campbell, KY was that if you earned a V device such as an Arcom w/v and any other ARCOMS then you wear two arcom ribbons one with a v and the other with the correct oak leaves as it is a completely seperate award. I'm up to 14 w/5 years in the Army . .Reservist now . .yes!!!

But as eveyone else said, highest on the right =) closest to the heart

On the web site linked below are links to pages for order of precedence for awards earned in all five of the Armed Forces. Scroll down and look under "Frequently Asked Questions".

Hope this helps:)
