I am doing an essay that has a sole author with no other input of any kind.

If the quote I am citing was, "and she said he said blah blah blah"...

Do I need to put the authors name as well as the page number or in this case just a page number as there are no other references.

(1),"and she said he said blah blah blah" (Chopin 116).

or,

(2), "and she said he said blah blah blah" (116).

If you're mentioning the author in the sentence, just input the page number.

E.g., Joe, contemplating how to format the sentence, asked "whether the citation should include an author or not" (12).

Edit: Purdue has a great online MLA reference guide. See below.

Otherwise try Citation Machine...you can select MLA or APA and install your information and it will give you the exact in test citation you need.
