i have a 2001 s/t with 133,000 miles on it and it runs great. i purchased the wrong motor oil 10w30 and put it in.my question is should i run it out or change it? i would like to go for synthec oil not for the protection it is beyond that with this mileage but for the fuel mileage.in the past i have used moble one but ended up with oil leaks in two cars with only 70,000 on them. the oil leaks started around 90,000 miles.any suggestions? thanks edj.

It's summer, I wouldn't worry about it.

On newer vehicles the seals are fine with synthetic oil BUT syn can have the effect of cleaning the seals, which will then may cause leaks, if the previous owner was not regular with his oil changes.

In your case I would advise either a high-mileage synthetic or treat the engine with Auto-RX first to clean and treat the seals before you use synthetic oil. I have used Auto-RX myself and think it is great stuff.

You will be fine... don't worry about it..

I'm with Todd on this one. Run the 10W-30 all the time. It will NOT hurt anything and the slightly higher initial viscosity will aid in preventing leakage through the valve seals.
