My laptop, with MS Office 2003, died during an SP3 update and will not turn on. It is now out for 2-3 weeks on a Geek Squad HD recovery mission. I have my files in a backup HD but don’t want to use MS Office 07 in my new laptiop since work is still on 03. I need MS Office 2003 in the meantime on my new laptop.

I’ll pay for a legit downloadable version of MS Office 2003.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Pedro

I couldn't find a legit downloadable version. I looked all over Microsoft. I could only find 2007 that was downloadable.

I know for fact that when I went from Office 97 to Office 2000, when I opened the 97 documents on 2000, it asked if I wanted to convert it to 2000.

With that said, don't know why 03 to 07 would be any different.

Just in case though, check this compatibility thing out.

Good luck...

In Office 2007 you are able to save documents in the 1997 or the 2003 form. The only problem is that some features of 2007 aren't compatible with the earlier versions.

That’s precisely what I am trying to avoid, having to be always aware of what MS Office version I am working/saving to. I don’t want to spend two hours on something email it to myself at work or save it into a USB drive only to find out I can not open it at work.

When you save something in an older version, it tells you that there are things that are incompatible with the older versions, and it tells you where they are so you can go back and fix them before it saves.

Pedro, If you own 2003, then you should legally be able to load it on your new laptop as long as you don't use it when you get your old laptop back. Just re-register it with the hardware changes. If you need the disk, get a copy from biznaga and use your registration key.
