Hey, Sport Trac family. I’ve gotten a final quote on this 2005 4x4 that cane thru the auction at Joppa, MD. I’ve sent my info and next week I’ll be wiring the money. But try as I might, I can’t find a local mechanic I can pay to go lay eyes on it.
I did talk to the auto shop that did yearly inspections and oil changes etc for over the last 10 years. They said it was owned by an older gentleman who took really good care of it.
So on paper it checks out.
They have a couple of undercarriage photos but I can’t tell a whole lot.
My questions for the group:
1) how afraid of this vehicle should I be as far as rust? I’ve owned a 2005 from 177k miles to 292k miles and it was amazingly reliable. Mechanically I’m not scared but I don’t have a lot of rust knowledge.
2) By chance is there a member who lives close and could go look at it for me before I wire the money? I’ll pay your mileage and an hourly fee.
