What Generation is your Sport Trac?
1st Gen Owner
Hey folks!

I’m an owner of a first gen ST with about 323k miles now….and I’m looking to move into a second gen. My problem though is back seat width. I currently have to tote 2 child seats in the back, and the wife is due in January with the third. So now I gotta get three kid seats across the back seat of the ST. I’ve tried fitting the three seats in, and it’s crazy tight!!! I attached a photo of the interior width of the back seat (interior door handle to door handle…see image). I was hoping a second gen owner could get me the same width measurement across the back seat of a 2nd gen with the doors closed. My width is about 51”, but I’m hoping the cab of a second gen is a little wider. Thanks, Randy

Excellent, just the measurement is fine. I appreciate you helping out!

Hard to believe 2007-10 owners that read this thread don't have or couldn't find a tape measure. LOL

I want a second gen 4.0 (I’ve never worked on the V8 the put in the second gens….seems like there would be next to no room under the hood with a V8 stuffed in there)…but anyway my second option is ‘09-‘10 F150 crew cab.

Take off the door panela and remove the handle ??
My wife drives our Gen 2 now so yeah no measuring.

Lots of room under the hood to work with the V8, no problems there. Once you drive the V8 vs the V6, you'll never look back.
I sold my 14 F150 FX4 to go back to the Trac (had one before the F-150), sooooo much nicer to drive (my opinion). The tough part is finding one in good shape, at a price you can stomach. Nice ones command a higher price. I spent 6-8 months looking for mine and bought it from someone 2600kms (1600 miles) away. Took a plane to look at it, and drove it home.
