Just like the post says, I need some advice. I ordered a set of 10 relays off a guy on E-Bay on March 28th. I have yet to recieve them. I e-mailed the guy 6 times (to see if they were sent) and didn't get an answer (he e-mailed me on Tues.) till I told him that if I didn't hear from him, I'd notify my credit card company and have them pull the payment. His statement was that he sent them before Apr. and if I didn't have them by the end of this week, to let him know and he'll get another package out to me. What should I do? I need these for a project on the ST and also for a few remote starters I'm putting in for people. (already put them off as long as I want to) Should I cut my losses and get other relays, or give this guy a chance to redeam himself by getting me my stuff? Thanks.;)

Get rid of the guy. Cancel the order with your CC company if you did not use paypal, and leave him negative feedback so others know how he does business.

What's his feedback like. Usually, I'd give 14 business days til I notify the CC company. I rarely buy off eBay anymore. I had to appear in small claims court because some jerk weed took my 1000 bucks. Luckily it was in state.

You could do a couple of things. If his feedback is good, give it some time. If after 14 business days, file an ebay claim/paypal claim. I hate to say it but eBay won't help you, unless its a large amount. Ask for a tracking number or some type of confirmation the item was mailed. Most use some type of confirmation number these days. Once a claim is filed with eBay, it might force him to respond in a timely fashion. Also, keep you CC company informed. Ask a lot of questions too. Write down a list for the CC to perpare yourself before calling.

He has good feedback, thus the reason I bought from him. He has an e-bay store but I bought from a listing. My CC company is very good about this stuff. (It's from the bank that my wife works at.) ;)

Many, many ebay sellers, especially power sellers have high feedback but are slow in their delivery times. Some deliver slowly and play the "it's already shipped" game because they are actually drop shipping and don't have the parts on hand, or even worse, ordering the parts, waiting for them to show up, then shipping.

I look for neutral feedback for such sellers, or indication in positive feedback that the shipping was slow. Another indication is look at the average time between when feedback is left and the end of the auction. If its over 3 weeks on average, beware.

Here was his feedback box. (allbestparts)

Past Month Past 6 Months Past 12 Months

positive 843 4320 5709

neutral 7 19 24

negative 6 13 15

None of the Neg's were for slow shipping or not recieving. Most were for "padding" his shipping charge.

I have noticed some sellers use "snail mail" to save .50 .....

I had something take 2 weeks to get here from Michigan, it was sent parcel post...

If he sent the items through the US post office it can take a long time to get them. I used the post office to send out some items. I shipped the morning after I received payment and it took over 3 weeks for the items to get it to the buyer. I will not ship that way anymore.

I recently filed with Paypal over a $45 item that was never received and a seller who did not respond to email contact. After two more weeks with no luck even after Paypal became involved, I invoked the option of settling the case without further attempts at contact. Paypal pulled the $45 from the seller's account and put it in mine without hassle. If the seller had not had the money in his account, though, I don't know what would have happened next.

You have a limited amount of time to file a complaint with Ebay/Paypal. I would go ahead and open a case so Paypal becomes part of the communication between the two of you. If your guy delivers, close the case. If he doesn't, take it to the next level. If Paypal's involvement takes care of it, you won't have to get your CC involved.

Yeah, go to your My Ebay site and open a dispute. Sometimes to Post Office and shippers can be slow but it is best to get a dispute started so you won't need to wait if the items don't show up. I have opened disputes only to have the item show up the next day so don't get too hostile right off the bat.

Good luck,

Gary

Work with him. Things happen...Tell him to ship it with a tracking number so that you know that a package was sent. If he doesn't come up with a tracking number within a day or two, he is probably jerking you around....

I did e-mail him again and told him that if I don't get a tracking number by tomorrow, I'll finish the process of terminating the deal.;)

Here is a little update for you all. I had taken the liberty last night to contact other buyers on the same listing. There were two of them. I just asked if they had recieved their stuff yet. Got a response from one of them and he stated that no, he hasn't got his yet either. He thanked me for bringing it to his attention and is going to contact the seller also. Now I know he didn't send anything out yet. So, now I'm not going in and having to rely on his word that they were sent already.;)

No too long ago I had an issue with a seller from Japan. It took FOREVER to get here and when it did arrive, it was the wrong item shipped.

I emailed 27 times, they NEVER responded. Finially I did all the right things thru both ebay and paypal. The seller rsponded on the last day, so I stopped the dispuite.

But,,, then I did NOT hear from him again and you can not re-open a dispute nor re-start one on the same item/seller.

So I left negative feedback and paid a third party company to handle the dispute. The seller was furious I left negative feedback and we played the feedback war. If he responded I was able to as the form would allow for a response. Well, others got the drift of it and he asked how we can make it go away.

Told him to send me another item, I am not returning this one and then I will pull my negitive comment. Three weeks later I had my item and we worked it out as well as my funds were given back to me. This ordeal took just under 3 months though...

I'm not going to wait that long. My CC company will take care of it. I have still about 20 days before they might not do anything, and I'm not going to get close to that. I've already given the guy 2 weeks to give me my stuff. He is listed as Hong Kong, but the items were listed as LA, California. We'll see. I don't plan on giving it to long before I take action.
