Need some advice.

Hey guys, I haven't posted in a long time, but i used to be an avid member here. just been really busy with work and stuff lately. I just recently started to get some spare time back in my life and this brings up my desire to start a project I've been wanting to do for a long time. I was hoping I could get some help from ST'erriffic or someone else in the salvage yard/ body shop repair business. Im in need of a ST body, any year, interior and exterior. Im hoping to find one without a motor, without a trans, without axles/suspension, and without a frame. as those are all pieces i wont need. Is it even possible/ feasable to find just the body for a truck ( i want the main cab, i dont necessarily need the bed and front clip section) with the complete interior still there? for a decent price. Please advise which route i should take to find what i need. Thanks in advance. I knwo you guys are gonna point me in the correct direction.





P.S. Im not destroying my ST. In fact It will be for sale for shure, after completing this next project im working on. My "new ST" will hopefully replace my "old ST" as my Daily driver.

Excellent work. Thank you very much. Any ballpark idea of about how much im gonna end up spending on a shell of a truck? Would it change much from truck to truck. I really like my ST body, but a Super Crew might fit my needs better, so I might venture that direction. Also will most salvage yards sell me just the body, or will i have to buy the rolling chassis along with it?



I've been wanting to do a solid axle swap on my ST for a while now, but then i run into a few problems:





1) ST isnt heavy enough to control my trailer when towing my ranger out to the desert.

2) ST isnt 4WD

3) 4.0L isnt perfrect match for desired tire size/towing needs of truck.



I recently purchased a 1992 dodge cummins and am toying with the idea of scrapping my dreams of swappin in a solid axle into the ST, and instead swap in a newer, 4 passenger, 4 bucket seat body with more creature comforts. The dodge doesnt need to be smogged, and California doesnt have any "safety inspections". But im still worried about cops being angry when i get pulled over If I hand them the registration for my dodge and they see a ford body. Would I be better off using a dodge body? I REALLY dont want to do this, but dont want to anger the police any more than i have to.



Anyone here ever swap a body form one vehicle to another? any past experiences would be great.
