I have a JL 10w0 w/ probox pushing with an alpine MRD 300 series amp, the amp has a parametric EQ built into it, runs about 100W RMS at 4ohms, the speaker runs

125W RMS/250max.... I'm not real happy with the sound, is 100W enough or do I need 150 to 200 to push it..

I'm running the amp at 71 to 80hz

the amp is mono block ,running factory HU with cheapo inline 5:1 RCA converter to get sound to the amp, the install shop hooked the L front and L rear wires for the L & R channels on the inverter so the amp is only getting signal from the left speakers...could this be it... or the 5:1 inverter.... or not enough power, or just the wrong settings on the amp... I can explain all this if someone wants to call....sorry if it's confusing!...

More power is always better :)

Do you have a multimeter? specificly digital? If so check to make sure you are getting more than 12 volts at the amp. If not start there.

I don't think that only running the left side channels will really matter. It would be better to have a left and right but I don't think it would make a huge differance.

Also is it the MRD-M300? If so make sure you subsonic filter isn't set too high. It should be at 15ish. Your lowpass is just a preferance so you can play with that and move it higher/lower than the 80.

dennis, here is a wiring diagram from Crutchfield. It shows how to get more power out of your amp by wiring the subwoofer to create less OHMs. I made my DVC 4 ohm sub into a 2 ohm resistance. Letting the amp let loose it's power. It really made a difference.;)

If your amp is a 2 ohm output and your sub is a 4 ohm DVC then you will want to wire it like the third one down on the page. If not, your amp is getting overworked. RELEASE THE HOUNDS!!!!!:D

Dennis, You might be getting into the same problem i was having..You might be expecting too much out of your current setup. I had a JL 10w3v2 in a ported box with 300 rms going to it, and it still didnt seem to hit as low and hard and deep as i'd like. you havwe to remember that a single 10 isnt going to turn heads from across the street...Also, 100watts rms into a SVC 10w0 isnt going to be the most impressive either..Myself, i ended up going from 1 10 to 1 12 and now finally to 2 12w3v3s ported covering the majority of my back seat, and this is quite loud, but i'm already getting used to it. Good luck to you.

Andy
