I am looking to get an Aftermarket alarm put on my 04 ST and was wondering what type of system everyone else was using. I am wanting to get one because my neighbors car was stolen out of there front yard while they were home and my wife is freaking out about it. The cops found their car the next morning wrapped around a tree the next morning about 5 miles from their house. That happend the same day that my Boxers were stolen out of my yard. The area that I live it is not bad, but there are times when there are some weird people coming through. Thanks for the help.

Avital 2100 here. It's not a paging type butI'm very happy with it. I didn't do the install myself, but had the stereo store I got it from do it. There's alot of systems out there with all the different features. (even alot of features I didn't know existed)

I'm sure they probably do. Are you going to install it yourself? If not, I would check with some of the stereo stores in your area and see what they have.

If I tried installing something like that, I would screw something up. I installed a cd player in my nephews 1977 F100 and the wiring was so messed up on it, I had it wired into the light switch and did not know it.

I'll have to agree with you there Andrew. That was just not something I was willing to try. I could just see the alarm going off everytime I hit a bump after i got thru with it.

Andrew,

I have the AutoPage RS-650Plus which includes a two-way pager (so you can see visually what is giong on with your vehicle at your keychain), the siren, the dual-range vibration sensor, a glass sensor, and the brains, of course. A remote start module is also included with the RS-650 Plus package, and it is definitely worth it. I had it professionally installed due to the fact that it messes with a lot of ignition wires, etc. However, if you were to do this yourself, I'd advise (HIGHLY) having a wiring manual by your side. There is nothing I attempt to rig up on my Trac without that manual.

Anyhow, the one feature that really comes in handy with the Autopage is that it tells you when your battery is being drained. Not sure if others do this. But just this morning, I walked outside and it was diong its thing. Sure enough, I had left on one of my switches for an accessory which pulls a good bit of current. It did its job and let me know. (Of course, the battery would have probably been drained by now because it was going off all night apparently. I have a lot of emergency lighting on my truck, so I installed a PriorityStart module - $89.00 from batterymart.com - and it cuts off any draw from the battery if the voltage at the battery drops below 11.4V.)

Good luck. Hope I can help with any questions. Email me for a quicker reply!

Oh and btw, speaking of having your vehicle remain in your possession... if the alarm on the Autopage is either sounded or is set, the starter is disabled. I also have a module on my truck so if the battery is somehow disconnected, the alarm will continue to sound.

i have an excalibur. i know it's not a big name and all, but i was on a budget and it works great. i has 2-way paging, window roll up, alarm, keyless entry, remote start, shock sensors and everything. i love it, and so far no break ins (college town = high crime). just go with something you're comfortable with, and leave it at that, but thats just my opinion.

Andrew, i would definetly go with the alarma with a pager! i had the viper 791 and i loved it! it is very easy to use and its got a super long range! but if you get a starter put on it you will have to give up a key to your truck :( . i have heard that there is an alarm with a starter that dosent require you to lose a key but i cant remember the name right now. also, make sure that you get it done by a recomended installer!! i got mine done pretty cheap, but it ended up messing up on me ( you get what you pay for i guess). but definetly spend the extra money to get an alarm with the two way pager remote, you'll be happy that you did!!

The viper 791, which I have also. Is a full alarm system with shock and current sensors , siren and remote start. you'll need the Ford PAT bypass.

I also had the remote window roll up of the rear window installed and a sensor on the rear tailgate and hard tonoue cover.

I'm now going to have the proximity sensor and battery backup installed and maybe the remote control the front driver and Pass windows.

Great system and range
