I got a new cell phone and had to play again with it. (Annoyed my hubby the first day with little movies.) It's got the camera and movie feature. So today while in my car, I came across this sitting in a parking lot. I couldn't resist. [Broken External Image]:

I had to be quick. Didn't want someone to come out of the Dollar Tree store and yell at me for taking this picture.

Alright, so how do you get the pics from the phone to the computer? I have a ton of pics on my phone that I want to save, but they're taking up space.

Funny pic, BTW.

I signed up for free with kodakmobile.com. One your registared with them, they send an email saying to put their email address (listed in email) in your addressbook on the phone. Send the pictures you want and they come up. It took me some time to figure it out.

I don't know Conrad. It's a new thing for me. I would guess so. My phone is Cingular. When I clicked send, Kodak came up to send to. My Cingular rep. said I would have to send photos to that site. Different ways for different carriers I guess. I'm still new at it.

becareful with those photos on the celphones, cause i thought that you/i would get charged for each pic sent out that way.... check w/ cingular about your plan and charges.....

rob;)

i have verizon. i signed up (free) for pixplace. but when u send the pix from ur phone to pixplace it charges u for a pix message or each picture sent.

my motorola v710 has grainy photos neway so i dont even worry about most of them.

Oh, I know. I think I get 20 photos a month. This is the only one I'm going to do until the bill gets to normal. I've had ATT/Cingular for years. In order to get a better phone..my other one had enough...I had to get another 2 year plan.

With Sprint, you can e-mail them, or you can upload them to your page on their website. From there you can e-mail them, modify them, print them, download them, etc.

The only thing I've had trouble doing is getting it to allow you to download other photos to your phone, so you can have them displayed on the screen. It pretty much only allows you to see photos that either you take with the phone, or that are sent to you from other cameraphones.

You can also go to ebay (or some other cell phone store) and by a USB connector for your phone and hook it up to your computer. Then, your computer will just recognize your phone as another hard drive and you can copy info from the phone to your computer (and vice versa -if you want to add ringtones). However, be carefull because you don't want to delete something on your phone that needs to be there.....hahaha we did that once (the phone didn't stop beeping and it couldn't make or receive calls).

We just bought a cable for our new LG VX5200's from verizon and it's great. We don't have to pay for new ringtones because we have software that will take MP3's and convert them to ringtone format (I believe it's .mid) and then put them on the phone. Fun stuff.

I guess I don't get the point of having a camera built into a phone. The picture quality is crappy, and who can tell on a teeny screen what you just snapped? You can buy a $200 digital camera that will blow away any cell phone camera.

I buy a cell phone for one thing and one thing only. Make/receive phone calls. You can keep the other junk.

The main reason i wanted a camera phone is because all too often I've found myself in a situation where I really wanted to snap a picture of someting. Regardless of quality, it's a picture and you can make out what it is of. I also like the security of having it incase of emergency. And before you flame that statement, let me explain. If I get into an accident somewhere and do not have access to a camera, I like knowing that I can document the situation with my phone well enough to not be taken advantage of.

Not to mention, it's just fun and in most cases it's either free, or just about free. Don't know about you, but mom always said "if it's free...take three". j/k

I have Cingular and you can set the phone up to e-mail the picture directly to another e-mail account. There are several different ways to set the e-mail up, but I just used a yahoo account I have for my phone and it works ok.

Rather than use the e-mail though I bought the USB cable and hook the phone to my computer. It's much faster and easier. (I hate typing on my phone keypad).

Bruce brings up another valid point. Why struggle with a phone pad to type a instant message when you can use your computer and type with a real keyboard? I watch my teenagers 2 thumbing their Samsung phones like mad to type 3 words that I can type on my keyboard in seconds.

(I'm feeling like Andy Rooney on 60 mins) :)

Darin--the quick and simple answer is portability. Yes, you can do it on your keyboard in seconds, when you're at your desktop, or when you have your laptop with you, running, and are in an area where you have access. But with the phone, you can do it nearly anywhere, anytime, on a piece of equipment that most people have turned on nearly full time.

Having a cell phone camera is very convenient, i love it! I signed up for like 4.99 for unlimited test and pix messages. I have a motorola E815 and its pics are awesome. If yo ulook at my folder the outside pic of my truck when its on concrete is from my phone. pretty good quality, the only downfall is when you zoom in it isnt that great.
