After I got home yesterday I checked the plugs for cracked insulators. I didn't find any problems there so I started removing the wires from the coil pack to see if I may have a bad wire. When I got to the #1 position, with the wire removed there was a spark that would creep up the inside of the coil pack socket. This didn't happen on any of the other 5 positions. Does this mean that I may have a bad coil pack? I couldn't find a crack in the housing anywhere.

It is possible, but didn't the problem start only after you changed the plugs and wires??

There may be a carbon track that is allowing for the arc. Clean the teminal in the pack and see if it clears the problem.

Also look inside the boots to make sure the clip in the wire is visible and in the center of the boot so that the coil locks on to the clip inside.
