I think his comment was crude and improper..but that's also talk radio. I think that certain people are trying to kill his career which is overkill. Imus runs a charity ranch progam that a lot of folks don't even know about. If you want to talk about improper comments, start with "rap" songs and go from there.

its just like any other racial thing that everybody jumps all over, this is the same thing its talk radio. somebodys opinion grow up people and let it go. agree or disagree wiht it it doesnt make a diffrence. live and let live

I think the world would be a better place if Al Sharpton would mind his own business, he is simply a troublemaker. And the comments were no worse than anything you would hear from a rapper, on the radio. But it all comes down to a double/color standard on who can say what.

I am not condoning or agree with what he said, but all this racial BS is just starting to get old.

i agree with chad...to me, sharpton preaches nothing but hate...everytime there is peace, he brings something up to fire up his crowd...what imus said was, yes, improper, but i too do not think he should be fired...let and live is right...

rappers call white people "crackers" in some songs, but no one seems to bring up any problems with that...where is Sharpton in that issue??

racial BS is getting old chad...you are right, i can't take it anymore...my university is now sponsoring manditory diversity meetings and such...it ain't worth my time...

He definately screwed up if he thought he'd get away with those comments. If he did it as a "shock" thing purposely, aware of the reprocussions to come (which I don't believe he did), I'd just put it down to him being an old rich redneck.

Rude? Yes. Crude? Yes. Uncalled for? Possibly. All of which are covered by freedom of speech AFAIK.

So, how about the rap music? I have yet to see Jesse and Al go after any of those groups of which, constantly sing of "*******" " ho's" "Suck this bitch / ho", "lick this bitch / ho", "F this bitch / ho". And so on and so on and so on. On the airwaves all day every day influencing kids and making millions along the way.

At least he had the gonads to take responsibility for those comments and offer an aploogy. Unlike most "celebs" who deflect the responsibility and go the rehab route to try and weasle out.

Those that scream the loudest about a racial remark are usually racist themselves. I heard enough remarks made against whites. Did anyone do anything about it? NO..I pass all racism off to ignorance that perpetuates hatred. The ones that are making a big issue to the world are perpetuating the hatred also.

Johnz, has a good point about useless speach..Gangster Rap. It crude, rude and demeaning and has no place, in a civilized society.

He should have been fired, and he was. I never really liked him anyway.

Did you notice that he was not going to be fired until about a dozen sponsors dropped the support for his show and other network programming

...Rich

AdamCKach, your right, very thought provoking. Is this man speaking of "black supremacy"?!?

Taking it a little far, don't you think? Where is Al or Jesse on this guy? This must have been what Hitler sounded like when he gave his speech on "ethnic cleansing". But, I guess it's okay for him to say it...I'm not allowed to be offended because of the color of my skin! Sad to think that I'm raising a son in this world!

By the way,

Not to change the subject...But Pacman Jones finally (maybe) got his "come-uppance"

today. I'm not that much into football (not gay, either!), and I know it seems

a long time comin'. :)

I don't condone what he said by any means, however, I feel as if everyone is just jumping on the bandwagon at this point. It wasn't right what he said, but at the same time, alot worse is said each and every day and goes largely unpunished. Imus does do alot of great things concerning the ranch etc., and I really don't perceive him as a racist. He screwed up plain and simple, but the punishment should fit the crime, and firing him is not the answer.

I don't see what the big deal was with Imus. Sure he said some crap, but I hear crap all the time about anyone in sports, politics, entertainment, etc.

What's the big deal? Why was what he said any worse than all the other crap?

Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, etc. are a bunch of racist nut cases.

I don't condone what he said, but I think he was going for a message that has all but been lost. The message was "look at those tough looking girl basketball players with their tats and all."

Clearly the girls with their arms filled with tats are trying to look tough and like the bad-boys of basketball. They are going for street cred with their look. To Imus and many others, they look tough, thuggish, and gangsta, and that was the reason for him to bring it up.

I would say that if this was the first time, then it was a mistake. However, similar comments have occurred before. There aren't many companies today that would put up with this behavior. I know it isn't tolerated where I work. I could perhaps survive the first time, but not further occurrences. Making a public statement like that during the performance of my duties -- I'd be gone the first time. No question about it.
