Sounds like a good trip. SC is the only state between me and FL where my CCW is not recognized. Unloaded, locked hard sided case, not in the driver's compartment, is legal if you are traveling from one legal-carry state through a non-legal-carry state to another legal-carry state if I recall correctly.

I do it legally, although I am not crazy about it. My uncle purposely takes the long way to FL and avoids SC altogether because of that.

I am shocked. I expected NY and CA to be "may issue" states, but Alabama? That is almost as bad as states that deny the right.
