I want to buy a new set of wheels and tires. I have an 05 Trac with stock OEM wheels and Michelin Corss terrain tires. These are 16 inch wheels and I believe tire width is 8 inches. I am considering Motegi Touge 18 inch wheels (12 offset) and would like to get Cross terrains if they would fit. If not then another tire. Couple questions I have:

1) What is the offset of the stock OEM wheels? I am researching and looks like 42 or 45. If so my understanding is that with an offset of 12 on the new wheels, that should push tires out over an inch on each side. Having 9 inch tires should also add to a wider stance. Am I right on the offset calculations, tire width and overall conclusions here? (I do not want to use spacers so looking for a wider stance for better stability by decreasing wheel offset and getting a wider tire)

2) Any opinions on Motegi wheels for the Sport Trac?

3) Could I get Cross Terrains to fit on these wheels?

Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3

Wheel Size: 18x9

Offset: 12

Go to the link below, type in your vehicle and wheel size. Then play with their tire comparison feature to see what fits. Good luck, Bob

Your stock wheels on a Gen 1 are 16x7 with a 14 or 15mm offset. Use the link below to see the effect of changing wheel widths and offsets, it's a great resource when shopping for wheels to get the look and fit you want.
