Hello Again

Seems I have been asking a lot of questions lately :O) So I have a question.....I an confused about something. On my ST the dipstick doesn't look like the one they show in the manual. The manual shows the bottom hole/hatch marks/ and then another whole right on the hatch marks. My dipstick has the hole/hatch marks and another hole much higher than the hatch marks (see pic) Is my oil need to be near the hole on top or in the hatch marks? I assume the truck holds 5 quarts.

the Holes mean nothing.... they are for even coating.

the cross hatch area is the cold to hot range.....

I do 5.5 qts every change But I let it drain good.

5 quarts of 5W-30 with a new FL-820S filter touches the upper dip stick line EVERY time for me.

I had an '88 T-Bird 302. With a good oil drain an a new FL-1A filter with 5w30 syn blend.

After startup and cool down. It would register about one quart over full. I started realizing something wrong from draining pan and filter. Then measuring the drained amount. It was much less than the stick before the draining.

So I cut a piece of small rubber tubing. Slid it on into the stick cap. After that my oil changes always showed exactly full, after oil and filter changes.

I suggest if any have an error on the dip stick. Do a good drain. change oil and check after start up and cool down. If it shows over full, use the tubing to correct the stick.
