Just wached Goss's garage on motor week. An oil engineer recomended not useing High performance racing oils in modern catylytic enginnes. The zinc-phosphate levels are too high. Will wreak havok on the converters. Zinc-phosphates are additives for corrosion and wear inhibitors. They didnot talk about brands or syn, syn-blend or dino. So I cant give you any other info. Just dont run any oil listed for racing if you have cat-converters.;)

No

In Kali the cars are put on dynos and tested at 2400 RPM.

If the truth be known, with todays engines and gas formulations, cats are really not needed

Bill is right about that. I know several people that have modified motors, no cats. On the dyno sniff test a couple run cleaner than stock. Imagine that..

has also been said that unlike the old days, should you wish to do so. you cannot start your car, lock yourself in the garage with the purpose of offing yourself with carbon monoxide.

cars just run to clean.

disclaimer: do not try this.

When I was in Kommiefornication, we had a 1989 Mazda 323 that the cat went bad on. A "friend" repiped the cat to make it look like it was attached but was actually not even in the system. Way more work than it was worth but passed emmission inspection from 1993-1997 when we sold it.
