Can anyone tell me if there is a way to know if a Sport Trac is a Job 2 without seeing it in person? For instance, let's say I found a Trac listed in a dealer's inventory on their website that was close to what I wanted. Could I tell by the VIN if it was a Job 2? Would it be safe to assume that if the last 5 characters (consecutive build number) are higher than say 35000, that it would likely be a Job 2? I do know that I have not seen a Trac with a power rear window that had a build number lower than about 23000.

Watch out, the power rear window has been produced since June. The true Job 2 Tracs went into production on Aug. 8th. I got my VIN today and a build date of Aug. 28th. I guess I'll get it around mid - September

jfire, I was not impying that the power rear window had anything to do with Job 2, only that I have not seen any VIN's lower than about 23000 for trucks with that option.

jfire - when did you order yours? I ordered mine in late July (25th I think) and I just got my VIN this week. Have not heard anything about a build date yet though. Salesman said 2nd or third week of Sept was probably a reasonable expectation for actually getting it. My VIN is over 45xxx for a job 2. Still looking for a picture of an Alloy ST. Anyone...? Can't think of many ways to tell a job 2 without seeing it. Orange or Alloy (carbon) would be one way. No Mineral Grey Job 2s. Options limited to job 2s (I think) Reverse sensing option, chrome package, rear seat DVD entertainment system. These ought to start hitting the dealers lots soon.

I hope you're right. I was hoping to maybe find one before the end of the month. Would like to use that extra $1000 discount. I need to find a dealer willing to try different options. I can buy using the X-Plan but I have a trade-in. I have had problems in the past getting a decent trade-in value when trying to use the X-Plan. I think that sucks but that's the way they play that game. :angry:
