Hi,

I Own and Love a 01 4X4 sport trac, 53000 miles

and am having the dreaded timing chain rattle between

2000 and 3000 rpm, only at a medium hard accelleration.

I don`t have extended warranty, I think I read that Ford

extended the TSB for the timing chain rattle to 70,000 miles

Does that mean My Trac will be fixed no out of pocket money?

Thank You

Ranger Erv

Under normal circumstances if your vehicle is covered either by an extended or the Factory coverage a TSB will cost you nothing other than the deductible if you had an extended coverage plan. I see you do not have extended coverage.

So your assumption is correct as long as Ford did in fact extend the coverage to 70,000 miles.

I would call your dealer to confirm the fact of the TSB coverage...

I just had my 2001 Sport Trac to the dealer ( 51,000) for the extended coverage for the timing chain rattle. It cost me nothing. The rattle did not go away !!!Their is a TBS to reposition the accelerator cable and clip to get rid of the rattle. I did not do this yet to see if it works. ( look at 11/25/2005 posting by Dave)
