that first 1000 miles is sooo important in babying it...did you hot rod her the first thousand?

:) j/k!

I hope they find out the cause soon Josh. :)

i think it might be the same that happened to me, the same stalling problem. it was in the shop for like a month and a half cuz ford had no clue what it was. they changed solenoids and redid my transmission but still. then they changed the computer and walaa! it worked lol. ask them to check the computer, if it saves u 4 more weeks without ur truck i'd be happy and i bet u will too lol.

Lemme Guess, it stalls when it's cold. I just had this problem with mine, Ford has a TSB out for it. The ECM needs to be reprogrammed. Depending if yours is new or not, it was about an $80 fix at the dealer. But that's cheap insurance for a $1000 rear end accident.

A very similar problem in the wifes old 02 honda civic. Their was leftover casting sand in the coolent resevior which would kill the engine even in drive. One of the many problems with the honda before it was bought back.

My Trac's engine has NEVER seen water (not even a wash).

The first 7,000 miles were 2500 RPM and under.

It happens even when it is hot.

I will ask to see if they'll check computer (thought they're the "experts") :)

Thanks again.

A'Josh,

Tracnblack here.

Found two TSBs on this problem. They are related. First numbers are:

TSB # 042107

NHTSA Item # 10014086:

Second set is because, apparently, the first TSB (fix) wasn't working

in all the cases:

TSB # 04217

NHSTA Item # 10013369.

"Regarding customer complaints of rough idle, stalling at idle or off-idle accelleration.

Revised PCM/TCM Programming and Calibration".

I think this may be what you are looking for!!!

Hope this helps...Tnb...

OK..Issue date for the first one was 11/01/04, second TSB was 12/13/04. Apparently in

these few weeks, Ford realized that the first TSB was not working for all of their

customers, and issued the revised one. Could have had something to do with

climate, driving habits, regional fuel availability, etc...Many variables on this reason.
