I'm thinking of getting an Optima battery, and came across these billet trays for Optimas. I'm thinking of getting one for the battery. Here are a couple that caught my eye. Thoughts/Opinions?

Honestly, Optima makes the best battery...period.

Is there any advantage in having the Optima battery in an average street car? No.

Why waste your money?

My suggestion is to get a Duralast or Duralast Gold from AutoZone and call it a day, unless you just want out shell out the extra $$$ for the colored Optima battery case. The Duralast Gold has an 8 yr warranty at about half the price of the Optima.

The main reason I'm looking at the Optimas is that they're on sale at Advance Auto Parts, and there's also a rebate promotion going on, which brings the final price down to around $100. That's pretty good for an Optima.

I have one similar to the top one from ebay, plain finish. If you look at the angle of the terminal holes, you'll see the inward angle is very sharp. The battery wires on the trac are short and you have to try and gain some slack. PITA, but it just makes it.

I love mine.......no leaking or blowing up concerns. I used a billet tray that doesn't cover the battery, locks down with a conforming shape base plate that screws in, real solid. Got it @ Costco.

Dingo & Griff,

To what $4 plastic piece are you referring? I can't find anything but batteries on Optima's web site. I was looking at a billet tray as another "dress-up" item for the engine bay.

Griff,

Where did you get your terminals?

Hey Andy.. I was just referring to the tray that came with the Optima.. The billet would be a nice dress up though.. I got the digital terminals from a guy on ebay.. they are all over the place..I wanna say I paid about 15 bucks shipped to the door. If you're looking to go nicer Stinger makes some great ones..Hope this helps.

The new red and yellow tops come with them.

If yours doesn't have one, or you get a blue-top, the adapters are around $5.

I'll probably get a red top. I told you, Dingo, I don't want no stinkin' blue stuff under my hood!:p It clashes with my red paint!:p

Unless it's a 302 V8 block painted Ford Engine blue!:D
