Time for factory tires to go! At 37k miles and almost at the wear marks. I was driving to work this morning in the rain lost traction and slid on curve. I kept it on the road, almost shat my pants though!

Ordered up some Goodyear Fortera Tripletreds. I loved them on my '02 ST, so I went with them again for the '07. They have lots of good reviews. Have an appointment for Thursday.

I have them but beware, I'm on my third set in 2 years. First wore out at 7K miles, second set would not hold shape because of a manufacturing defect. Third set is so far ok. I purchased the extended warranty through Discount Tire, which has saved me.

Good luck with the Fortera's. While mine have wore perfectly they are completely worn out and are getting replaced tomorrow at 22k miles. Good traction IMO but unacceptable tread life. Haven't decided what I'm going to put on yet.

I have BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/A tires on both my Explorer and Sport Trac. The Explorer has 50,000 miles on them and still look perfect. The Sport Trac tires are getting close to being worn out. I think they have closer to 60,000 miles on them.

Very happy with those tirs and will buy another set when mine are done.

I've reading more reviews and seen some people get as high as 85K on them? Over half complained of low treadlife though. I'm still going to go with them just because of thier overall performance in rain & snow. I got a 96 mile round trip commute to work and want the traction.

I was going to go with General Grabber HTS, but the Discount Tire dealer (San Diego Miramar) talked me into Bridgestone Long Trail T/A Tours. He said better tire, same price, and showed me the Discount ratings sheet (I think they're similar on Tirerack, but he said the lower rating on that site for BFG might be due to fewer ratings ?). Your GGHTS's should be fine.

Notice the top 6 tires in the survey results. Personally I would choose any of the top 2 - 3 tires.

I went with the Michelin Latitude Tour HP's. They definatly feel better then the Goodyear Tripletred's. Cheaper too. I'm just glad I got the old banana skins off!

Another vote for BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/As. I've had several sets on several vehicles and those tires are the best! Long wearing, excellent traction and ride, great handling, very quiet. Great in snow and ice.

Attn: Big Al- Replacing brand new shoes @ 7K? Huh? Regardless of your driving habits and conditions, surprising those treads haven't been recalled. Scary if true. Any explanation?
