I thought for sure the company I work for would be on the list, but it's not. Stupid list. j/k

According to some here, every one of these companies must be unionized. Otherwise, the employers would treat their employees badly and under pay them. Anyone know how many of the Top 10 have unions?

Yet again, my company is not on the list, how shocking. I hear they made it to number 12,084,384,399 just beating out Enron.

the company i work for is not unionized and we are all treated very fairly ( 325+ employees and growing daily ).

we were rated as one of the fastest growing company on long island !

we are all very busy and appreciate how we are treated.

it also helps that they gave me afree sport trac ! :D

I would say three of the top 10 are organized.

I wonder that if the threat of a possibility of a union would those same companies be on that list.

Let's take a quick look...I did, with a quick Google search, most companies have Wikipedia entries and those, or their corporate websites either deny being union, or don't mention union affiliation.

Here is what I have found, and I would be glad to be given updated info:

1. Google - not unionized

2. Genentech - not unionized, and criticised by subcontracted food service "employees" for not providing healthcare (http://www.paloaltodailynews.com/article/padn/2006-11-30-smc-scc-workers)

3. Wegmans Food Market - not unionized, or so a recent Wikipedia entry said that is still in Google's cache reading "Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is a 77-store U.S. regional supermarket chain with ... of the UFCW labor union, due to their policy of not hiring union workers"

4. Container Store - not unionized

5.Whole Food Markets - not unionized, though the Wikipedia entry does indicate that the Madison, Wisconsin store was unionzed for two years (2002, to 2004) but that was an isolated case

6. Network Appliance - not unionized

7. S C Johnson & Son - not unionized

8. Boston Consulting Group - not unionized

9. Methodist Hospital Sys. - not unionized

10. W.L. Gore & Associates - not unionized

S C Johnson & Son - not unionized

Not calling you a liar or anything, but I would be interested in where you got that information. 99% of oll the chemical companies have organized labor in the maintenance departments or chemical workers.

It was a quick review of their webpage, and wiki articles. I couldn't find mention of unionization, and given that they are privately held, it made it even more unlikely.

But if you have information that claims otherwise, that their full-time employees are union members, you let me know; whether it be SC J, or any of the other companies.

You made the assertion 3 of the top 10 were unionized. I couldn't find any evidence of that, and lots of evidence to the contrary.

Besides, I heard that 85% of all stats spouted on the Internet were fabricated. ;)

TJR,

I forgot to insert a word in my statement. I do that sometime. My mind thinks faster then my hands can write, or in this case, type.

What I ment to say was...

Not calling you a liar or anything, but I would be interested in where you got that information. 99% of all the chemical companies, I have worked in, have organized labor in the maintenance departments or chemical workers.

Many companies, such as Bridgestone/Firestone as an example, have many plants that are non-union operated, but maintenance personal such as plumbers and carpenters, are union workers.

Another thing to think about is that those companies treat their employees fairly to prevent a union from getting voted in. Those that don't are unionized.

Tom

Caymen now says:
...99% of all the chemical companies, I have worked in...

So am I to assume you have worked in (or for) at least 100 chemical companies?

That must be, or you surely wouldn't give a figure like 99% lest that figure be grossly innacurate and/or potentially misleading.

;)

TJR

I have been in more chemical plants, oil refineries, paper mills, shipyards, etc than I care to remember.
