Glad no one hurt. If your like me. It can make you sad that it got it when it is so new, though. Going to have my own battle. Our insurace is calling my wifes flood damage a total.

First hurdle...the adjuster was just here.

She said she would write it up to replace the whole door, not just a new skin. She has already left and I have a question.

The paperwork says:

Repl RT Door Shell, $470.00

Is that a skin, or the whole door?

Also, the whole estimate, including parts, labor and tax: $3112.10

Kaching!

Oh, and I went to www.diminishedvalue.com; and it seems I most def should file a diminished value claim as fkent says.

TJR,

A door shell includes the skin but no guts. They take all of the trim panels from inside, door glass, power lock and window regulators and transfer them to the new shell after it is painted to match.

You should see line items listed as R&I, remove and install as well as R&R, remove and replace.

Refinish times will include overlap and blending adjacent panels and clear coat time.

Fkent,

Thanks. I see those R&I items. It is the whole door. And they are going to blend the adj door (front door). Pretty much everything on the right side that has paint, sans the front fender is getting repainted.

I have to remember to test all the electronics carefully when we pick this thing up after the work is done, what with the backup sensor, door locks, etc, etc...any little thing could me munged.
