Often while working on the computer I will put a DVD in the computer next to me and let it run as background noise, grabbing my attention now and then. I usually do this with movies I have seen a bizillion times.

Today's movie: "The Usual Suspects"

I know people listen to music while online and working on the computer...but who else out there plays a movie?

I have a 3" color sony watchman next to my desktop. Right now Iam on the laptop in the kitchen..

I usually have the TV on and iTunes playing as well.

Ocassionaly at nite, or during the weekends I'll put in a movie to take up the time when there's nothing good on TV.

That's my preferred method while I'm working on something. I can't watch a new movie or show while I'm working/studying because I need to see what's going on. In fact, I can't work/study while my wife's channel surfing either because everytime she changes the channel I gotta look up and see what's what - drives me crazy.

In the den we have a 36 inch TV on in the same room. wife is also on her own PC with a 19 inch LCD monitor, Mine is also a Media Center PC with a 19 inch LCD monitor, so I have many choices. Also have a PSP to play video games while surfing the net or watching TV. Seems like I have to always be doing 2 or 3 things at once.

Giving full attention to nothing of course.

When I get serious about watching TV I go to the living room and watch the 42 inch plasma screen HDTV, with 500 watt home theater sound.

It nice to have some toys. Then when I get tired of being inside I hop in the ST and go for a ride.

Watching over a big pot of homemade chili. I can multitask too!

That is so wrong!!! Now I need to multitask..... I was already writing a paper and surfing the web, now I need a pot of chili for tomorrows game! (can't eat it today, it has to get "happy" overnight to be any good. :)

Here's my recipie:

Tom's 5 Alarm Chili

Ingredients:

2 quarts tomato sauce; 1 lb Bacon

2 large onions, chopped; 1 lb Hot Italian sausage

2 large green peppers, diced; 1 lb Hamburger

1 small bunch celery, diced; 2 large cans dark red kidney beans

Preparation:

· Chop and dice vegetables, place in separate bowls for later use.

· In a large frying pan fry bacon crisp, set aside, DO NOT DRAIN grease.

· Fry Italian sausage in same pan, breaking up into small chunks, set cooked sausage in large 5qt simmering pot, DO NOT DRAIN frying pan.

· Brown hamburger in large frying pan, then transfer meat to simmering pot, again do not drain the frying pan.

· Add tomato sauce to the meat in the simmering pot and stir, heat on low heat.

· Simmer peppers and onions in frying pan with lid, adding water as need.

· Once peppers and onions are soft, crumble/chop the bacon and add to the frying pan along with the celery. Continue to simmer for a few minutes, adding water to avoid sticking…celery will remain a little crunchy, peppers and onions should be soft.

· Transfer simmered vegetable and bacon to simmering pot, mix thoroughly,

· Add two large UNDRAINED cans of kidney beans to simmering pot, stir.

· Heat on medium heat, covered and under close watch, stirring as needed for about 5 to 10 minutes or until hot.

· Season to taste and as desired with: White pepper, ground black pepper, cayenne pepper, chili powder, Mexican style chili powder, Frank’s Red Hot, Tabasco

· Reduce heat to low simmer, cover, and simmer for at least two hours, stirring every 15 or 20 minutes.

Serving Suggestions: Serve in bowls optionally garnished with shredded cheddar cheese, diced raw onion, and/or a dollop of sour cream and warm Italian bread and butter or fresh corn bread on the side.
