My fellow ST'ers, Scott and I have decided to honeymoon at Yellowstone most likely the last week in Feb (2007) through the first week in March. I am not worried about the cold, but am wondering if anyone could offer suggestions on what to do. We will most likely stay at the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel (though we still might go to Snow Lodge). We don't want to rent a car since driving in the snow is not something we have to do regularly in FL (and I wouldn't want to drive like a tourist who's never driven in snow before), so we will take a bus from the the airport to Mammoth. We will start with a 2 or 3 day inclusive vacation package that will fill our time, but my question is what to do with the remaining days. Here is where hopefully someone will chime in.....

Keep in mind that we will not have a rental car, so whatever suggestions are made, must be accesible by taxi or bus (or snowcoach - those things are COOL). Please feel free to offer ANY suggestions. I'd like to find a place that will rent snowmobiles that do NOT require tourguides or trail rides. Basically, I want to PLAY and PLAY HARD! Nothing is too extreme.

Thanks in advance to anyone and everyone!

You could spend some time with Yogi and ****oo... Wait that's Jellystone :D Sorry... couldn't resist.

I don't know anything about the area but it sounds like a great spot for a honeymoon.

take up fly-fishing together and you will never have to leave the park.

-wait- this is a honeymoon? I dont think you will have a problem finding something to do!!;)

Remember to dress very warm as you will still have snow on the ground at that time. Oh, wait, isn't that what fireplaces are for. Best time to see Yellowstone would be late May or Early June. I have first hand knowledge that Yosemite is gorgeous in the winter; of course it is only a few hrs. drive from where we live. :D
