I'm in the process of setting up my "Arcade Machine"

We are having a party and I want to be able to have a tournement (sp?) what are some good oldschool arcade games?

Keep in mine ARCADE not game console and it is for 1vs1 action.

So remember the olden days and droppin those quarters, what did you like to kick your friends butts at?

JD,

Are you setting up a MAME arcade? Man, if so, that's one of my next projects (next meaning I will never do it, but heck).

Here are the games to play, 1 on 1, or 1 vs 1 for best score:

- Dig Dug

- 1941

- Galaga

- Donkey Kong

- Asteroids

- Missle Command

- Centipede, or better yet, Millipede

- Ms Pacman

Later,

TJR

I am setting up a MAME on my media center computer in the living room. I still need to get some controllers, but it's working with just the keyboard right now. One day I want to have a full arcade cabinet setup, but that won't be for several more years.

You must be a little older than me, since I'm thinking street fighter, and mortal kombat :)

One problem with the "new" games on MAME is that you need a higher powered machine for them to run smooth. These 80's games work great on old hardware that isn't good for much else.

I used to have a MAME machine but had to take it apart when I thought I was moving. Threads like this give me the itch to put another one together.

If you have a trackball or a mouse for your setup, "Shuuz" (horseshoes) or "World Class Bowling" (need a fast computer) are fun for parties.

Have fun!

Help some of the lest techno-fluent on this site out here--What is "MAME"? (Other than "something that happens to you when you approach a lion on the wild".)

* Trac'n Field was always a good head to head game.

* Tron was a big one at the skating Rinks.

* Kangaroo one of my faves, along with the above mentioned dig dug.

Donkey Kong junior was fun too.
