The kids started school today. I took the day off to see our youngest off, he started kindergarten today...I cried like a little girl. He's my baby.:(

Mine starts next year and I'm in no way looking forward to it.:( (she turns 5 next week. She just missed the cut-off)

It's amazing how fast they grow up. Any suggestions to make it go smooth would be appreiciated.;)

Our daughter's birthday is the end of Sept, she will be turning 6. She is going to Kindergarten this year, so yes, Stone, like your daughter she missed the cut-off.

She is a tall girl, and very smart (reading at almost a 1st grade level), so we are concerned she might be bored. We put her in a full-day program just to keep her busy. Our state (PA) is a pain because it doesn't "have to" bus Kindergarten students and our school district has only a 1/2 day program. So, we are paying to send our daughter to a private school that my wife is teaching part-time at. After paying tuition we are still a few dollars ahead. Next year she will go back to the public school.

Anyway, how do you make it go smooth? Expect them to grow fast and expect them to be "individuals" not some clone of yourself that has been put on Earth to do what you say and please you all the time. Kids grow and gain experience by pushing limits, and that means at times you will feel like you have an alien living in your house. Give them lots of love. Love and boundaries, and they will grow up fine. Just don't expect they will always respect the boundaries.

I can't wait till the kids are in college!...LOL 14 and 16 both girls. 16 thinks she is a rocker this year the way she dresses. My 14 year old daughter dresses like a skater. Both are straight A students.
