Hey guys I'm having trouble with my new memory card for my camera. I have a old powershot s 200 canon camera and have never had problems with it. I recently purchased a 2gb sandisk ultra II compact flash memory card. I can take pictures on the memory card and view them on the camera but any way I try to transfer them on to the coputer (via the camera or a usb reader) the files keep coming up corrupted. My older 64mb memory card still works. Is there something wrong with the memory card or is my camera just to old for the new tech of the memory card?

How old is the camera? Some older cameras can't use the new technology. My old Sony Cybershot uses regular memory sticks and can't use the "pro" or "pro duo" or anything over 512. Solution: I bought a new camera. You may be outta luck on this one.

Yeah I had the same issue with an older camera and a new memory stick. The memory stick wouldn't completely work with the older camera due to technology differences and age.

As noted above, the disk may be too large for the camera. However, since you can take pictures on it and presumably view the pictures on the camera I am guessing that is not the issue.



Do you have a card reader on your computer? Or a reader you can plug into the computer?



If so, plug in the card, go to the file to display it's contents, right click on the card and FORMAT the disk.



I have seen often where the card needs to be formated before it will allow for picture reading.

Try formatting the card in the camera. If this doesn't work, your camera

may be too old. I have read on some of the photography sites that I belong

to that most of the older cameras cannot go above 1 Gig cards, and some are

limited to 512, as Jeff C referred to about his camera.

Have you tried to transfer them to some other computer, either via usb camera connection or a card reader?

some cameras need to be updated software. Some new versions were coded prior to the higher memory levels and therefore cant read them. it should be a free upgrade from canon

Thanks guys. I tried to update the software on the camera and i guess my camera is just to old for the tech. Im gonna have to buy a new camera. I think im gonna get the canon sd750. Any one want to buy a 2gb compact flash card for like 30 shipped? Is basically brand new. lol. I will be out of town until monday if you are interested just email me at [email protected]

Nah, the new camera uses a sd card.
