OT: Considering relocation to the Duluth, GA area...Opinions?

UPDATE:



Relocation is NOT going to happen. The relocation offer and terms provided by my company were simply not sufficient. They wanted us to move too soon, which would disrupt the kids school year, and the package they were offering wasn't even adequate to cover the commission on the sale of our existing home. I was looking for an offer that covered closing on both ends, moving, temporary housing, and then some...they didn't even come close.



We went into this with very selfish, probably unrealistic expectations. My company is rather small and they didn't live up to those expectations.



With a 5 year anniversary coming up in December I fear that I may need to start looking for another job.

Sorry to hear. Good luck in the job search. With your experience, you shouldn't have any trouble finding another good job.

Fred, thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I said in an earlier post that if this were going to happen it would have to be on "our terms".



I've already moved from one state to another for a job and though it all turned out well, it wasn't even close to being done on our terms, and we paid for it financially and personally. That was 9 years ago and our kids were young then with the oldest about to go into Kindergarten. Then was a good time to move.



Now, that same oldest kid is going into 9th grade, our middle child moving up to the middle school and our youngest starting 1st grade. Since then we have made a lot of friends, I am a leader in our church with a lot of responsibility, and we are active in other clubs and organizations.



To disrupt our lives now would have to mean ALL positives; all/mostly up-side...and that's not what my company offered...though I made it very clear to them what our needs and expectations were...which adds to the insult, if you ask me.
