If you do I would be glad to use it when finalizing financing tonight at the dealer for the Focus I took delivery of.

If what Caymen says is accurate than the dealer gets money back when selling via X-plan, and if that's the case they might be willing to negotiate an even lower cost and split the difference.

Thanks!

TJR,

Why would they want to deal with you now? You already agreed on a price.

When buying with a a plan such as X-Plan, you must identify yourself as an X-Plan buyer up front.

According to Ford plan rules, you are no longer eligible for X-Plan.

Caymen,

You might be right, Caymen.

The price gets agreed to when I sign the papers...before that, everything is verbal.

The only paperwork I have signed says that I intent to buy the car at a price by a date. I haven't signed the real purchase agreement yet. That comes tonight.

I just assumed that IF the dealer gets money back, as you say, from x-plan, and they are already crying poverty on the deal, that it might be in their best interest to take the x-plan and lower the price even further.

TJR,

There is no negotiating the Price under X-Plan. I don't think you understand how it works. The only difference is that with X-Plan, the dealer has room to give you something extra if they make a mistake, such as what happened in Jen's case.

X-Plan is a fast cheap way to buy a vehicle. Walk in, walk out with your new vehicle. You get the best price you can get with no negotiation.

The dealer is not required to give you any extra off and many times they won't.

In Jen's case, it seems like that since there was room to work, they took the hit and gave her the 500 extra. Offs are, if she was not buying under X-Plan, they would have told her it was a mistake and let her walk out the door if she wasn't happy with it.

When I bought my 07 ST (which I special ordered) I did not present my X-Plan pin until I went to take delivery and sign the papers. They didn't have any problem with it and we closed the deal smoothly. All they had to do was input my pin information into the computer and reprint the final paperwork which took an additional 5 minutes. Other then that, there was no issues.....

If they ask why, explain that you wanted to see what their service is like without knowing that you have a connection with Ford Motor Company.

Caymen, I understand how it works.

But as I said, I already got what seems to be the "at X-plan" price (the only real difference between the price I got and Jenn got was the $500 she SHOULDN'T have gotten...and she used X-plan).

That's why I said that IF the dealer makes more money selling one car with X-plan than the another without, with all other things the same, then as I said, they should welcome taking X-plan for my business if they could....more money for them.

I desperately need the pin as well. I get the X-Plan partners, but need the friends and family X-Plan. Can anyone help out a long-time member but mostly lurker?
